However,that streak was finally put to rest Saturday night as the Storm edged out the San Diego Boca 2-1. F.C.S.C's leading scorer came though again for the Storm,adding 4 points to his stats as Tyler Coombes scored twice in this game: The first was in the 14th minute off of a break away.  Robbie Gouk had the ball at the 20 yard line doing his best to maintain possession with two defenders surrounding him.  Robbie made a quick back pass to the feet of Coombes who, with the keeper coming off his line quickly slipped the ball passed Boca keeper Tad Caraway and posted the first goal of the game.  read more>>>>>>>   Keeper Steven Rodriguez Keeper Steven Rodriguez Player of the game Storm Keeper Steven Rodriguez was named player of the game in his 2-1 win over the San Diego Boca last Saturday at Harry Welch Stadium at Canyon High School. Rodriguez had 9 saves with 6 of them in the first half of the game. Rodriguez made four saves in a row that saved the game.  One on a shot that was headed in and Steven made a dive for it and saved it pushing it out the side. Then in the very next play Boca came back and shot a bullet that was headed in and Steven jumped and collected it to make another save. A may-lay in front of the net produced a shot when Steven was out of the goal and he made a  slide in to the goal on the goal line and put himself behind the ball for the save.  Another Shot form 20 yards out that was headed in by way of the upper part of the goal, Steven leaped getting his figures on it enough to push the ball over the top bar.  Rodriguez earn this 2-1 win and help put his team in second place tied with the San Diego Flash. With out the timely saves of Rodriguez the Storm would of not been celebrating a victory. The player of the game is submitted to the league office and is sent to media across the nation for consideration for National honors. Storm moves closer with 2-1 win over Boca, Steven Rodriguez- keeper Player of the game.

Forward Tyler Coombes #13 scored both goals in 2-1 win

 Storm 6-2-3  moves a little closer to the first place spot when Forward Tyler Coombes puts up two goals and lead the team to a 2-1 when over Boca at Canyon High Saturday Night, Backing up his goals was keeper Steven Rodriguez with nine game saving stops between the post. 
 Tyler Coombes picked up the first goal in the 14th minute has he received a back pass from Robbie Gouk on a break away and with his left foot he poked it pass the Boca Keeper.

Then in the second half  Alex Harlley entered the game in the 53rd minute and he took him only four minutes to create an opportunity  has he laid a cross pass to the penalty spot and found Coombes, and once again Coombes did what he does so well putting the ball in the net for what was the winning goal
 Steven Rodriguez was named Player of the Game by coach Arana for several saves that would of made a difference in the outcome of the game. .

Saturday night June 15th Storm vs San Diego Boca 6pm Canyon High School

Storm Fails to Hold Lead in 2-2 tie, loss 2 valuable points

Santa Clarita, California - Saturday night's match up was a game where both teams were
looking to advance with in the standings; both teams had an identical records of 5-1-2 & both
were looking to own 1st place, the Storm were specifically looking to gain a two point
advantage over F.C Hasental.  Almost the entire game looked like that was what was bound
to happen, until the last 5 minutes of the game when that all changed; as the two teams
ended the game in a 2-2 tie.

It was the Storm that came on strong in the first 45 minutes of play, controlling the pace of
the game and the ball. The Flash were taken by surprise as the Storm held the bigger
percentage of the ball most of the half. In the 14th minute forward Tyler Coombes collected
the ball on a counter attack & out maneuvered the midfield and defense to find himself on
a one on one with Flash 'keeper; Nick Harpel who made an attempt at poncing on it off his
line but got the foot of Coombes and the ball was well on it's way in the net. Coombes
collected his 5th goal of the season matching teammate Andres Bueno, giving Coombes a
team leading 12 points with his two assist. It was only nine minutes later (23:00) when
midfielder Ricky Cruz got the ball outside the 18 yard box, turned with the ball and shot a
curve that wrapped around Harpel and right to the upper V to give the Storm a comfortable
2 goal lead .

 That comfortable lead lasted throughout a good portion of the game until the Flash came out
on a mission to get back in the game with 15 shots (most in the second half), they were really
putting the pressure on. However the Storm midfielders and defense held them off for quite
sometime. The Storm defenders created a number of counter attacks getting the ball to their
forwards who had a number of opportunities right in front of the Flash net. However Harpel
came up big when he needed to, turning away those attacks.  Alex Harlley came off the
bench in  the 59th minute & received a pass from the midfield and worked his way within 4
yards only to place it right into the lap of Harpel. Harlley yet again broke away  on his own
in the 74th minute as he took a hard shot that was just tipped over the cross bar.Tyler Coombes had two direct shots with no luck of his own. The Flash turned it up &
came on strong to get back in & in the 87th minute of play they received a corner kick and
Flash's forward Justin Pizou's head found the ball and the back of the net past 'keeper Miguel Lopez.  With only three minutes on the clock the Flash started to really pick up the
attack but the Storm defenders held their ground until the end of regulation time. The

official then tacked on 3 minutes of stoppage time, & in less then a minute the Storm fouled a Flash player in the Storm's defensive third & on the restart the ball caught the head of Flash player; (defender) Michael Sommerfield who headed it in to capture the tie and maintain there position with the Storm at 17 points a piece. After the game Coach Arana was asked to give his thoughts on his team's performance for his first game as head coach:"We as a team , are looking to continue the winning tradition that we have created, We have a great foundation of players to build from".

Storm will travel to Thousand Oaks to face F.C Hasental who are tied with both the Storm and the Flash with 17points. This will be a Sunday 5:30pm match at Cal Lutheran University.
The Storm will return home on June 15th in a 6pm match with the San Diego Boca at Canyon High School.

Fausto Arana takes the Helm of Head Coach of the Storm

     United Sports International Incorporated & the Futbol Club of Santa Clarita are
excited to announce Fausto Arana will replace Jose Meza as the Head Coach of the
Futbol Club Santa Clarita Storm of the National Premier Soccer League.

      Coach Meza has chosen a different direction and the Storm wishes him all the best
& would like to thank him for his time & efforts while he was with the team. Meza
accomplished a winning record in slightly over a year with the club, recording 13 wins, 4
ties & 6 losses.  "We are very thankful for what Mr. Meza has done for the club, he was a
tremendous help to the organization and we are positive he will be successful anywhere
he goes. We wish him only the best of luck." stated Gerald Brunner; C.E.O.

Fausto Arana Head Coach SC Storm

Fausto Arana is in his second season with the Storm's coaching staff and will now take  the helm of the Storm's lead position. Fausto has 18 years experience in coaching, from youth to    
college & every stop in between. Plus these last two season in the N.P.S.L. Fausto has coached at the College of the Canyons since 2009 & has recently been appointed head coach of the soccer program at West Ranch High School. Arana comes to the Storm with Certificates in coaching from the Dutch Soccer Federation (K.N.V.B -  Advanced Coaching Certificate in Tacti cal Match Analysis), as well as an N.S.C.A.A Nation Diploma as well as an Advance Certificate from N.S.C.A.A. Fausto has also coached in the local high schools for over 13 years. "Arana comes with a great deal of knowledge of the game & ability to read it. He has brought a new philosophy to the team & the players are excited at the idea of a new approach and so are we " said Brunner. "We are very confident that he will continue the winning ways that coach Meza had started."

Storm takes season series againest Las Vegas Stallions.

  Santa Clarita, California - The Storm moved in Saturday night to the city of lights, late night entertainment and money! money!! money!!! - Las Vegas Nevada. Las Vegas is home of the Las Vegas Stallions  F.C. The Storm's first trip to "Sin City", the Storm were looking to pick up three points needed to keep up with F.C Hasental in a battle for the top
spot in the standings. Gambling on a early goal, The Storm knew that would be enough to secure the win, and it was as the Storm edged a much improved Vegas team 1-0.

Tyler Coombes Forward

The Storm entered the game with 13 points in a three way tie with F.C Hasental , O.C Pateadores, and only one point ahead of the San Diego Flash. So the three points were important for the Storm to come home with. It was a much improved Stallions F.C team with a record of  1-1-6, they came out very strong and much more organized. The first 20
minutes of the game was played mostly in the middle of the field, until the 23rd minute when the Storm had a throw-in from 20 yards out when midfielder Juan Camacho took the throw and directed it to forward Tyler Coombes and before it hit the ground Coombes volleyed the ball right into the far post, leaving the Stallions 'keeper Julio Garcia with nothing
he could do about it.  Coombes gave his team a one goal lead which turned out to be the winning goal as well. Most of the first half was controlled by the Storm who had posted 8 shots on target compared to the Stallions 4.

     The Second half rode on the Storm's defense and goalkeeper. The Stallions came out strong and hungry as they turned the control of the game around and started to press on the defense of the Storm with 4 shots directly on goal with in the first 15 minutes of play. All opportunities were turned away however with some excellent reactionary saves from Storm's
'keeper Miguel Lopez keeping the Storm out in front. The Stallions came at the Storm continuously through the half, but it was the player of the game - Joel Gunterman (defensive midfielder) who came up big with stopping most attempts by the home team to penetrate  the midfield. "We are trying, but we just cannot get by you" said Stallions head coach Alfred Hoviss to Gunterman while taking a throw-in in front of the team bench.
