Chivas USA 4 Santa Clarita Storm 1

Storm drops a 4-1 loss to Chivas USA
in friendly at the Home Depot Center
 Game summary:
Carson-California- Chivas and the Santa Clarita Storm took the first step in a new relationship as the faced each other in Carson at the Home Depot Center In a Scrimmage game. A game that looked to be a real even match, at least for the first quarter of the game. The it would be Chivas who broke open and took advantage of an  opening in the back line of the Storm and brought keeper Steven Rodriguez off of his line and quickly and easily took the lead. With the Storm defense still gathering themselves the Chivas broke though again and after several attempts right in front of the net the Chivas finely  got one up and in past Rodriguez to collect their second goal in the first 30minutes of play.
Then just three minutes after the Chivas second goal, returner Miguel Ibarra broke away from the midfield and dribbled past several Chivas Midfielder and a couple of defenders Ibarra slapped a shot to the far post and out of the keeper reach to bring the Storm with in one.
Miguel Ibarra who played with the Storm since 2008 when they where located in the Antelope Valley and playing under the brand of Lancaster Rattlers FC , was taken in the second round of the MLS draft last year by the Portland Timbers who sold the rights to the Minnesota Stars of the North American Soccer Leagues. Miguel on break and not returning to the Stars until February 20th join his old team to play again where his professional career started.
Tyler Coombes at Home Depot Center vs Chivas USA
The First half was capped off by a fourth goal for the Chivas in the 41 at. Minute. Of play.
All of the action was in the first half of the game, after the half time break and some re arranging the Storm came on a lot stronger and held the Chivas from capitalizing on any opportunities. The Storm had most of it’s quality shots in the second half, Forward Tyler Coombes missed a excellent opportunity with a pass from Jesus Lopez up the middle Coombes caught the ball at his feet and got the Chivas keeper off guard but the shot went wide. Mauricio Harrie had an opportunity and the ball was being passed around at the 6 yard line in front of the Chivas net and it popped loose in the air as Harrie took a half attempted at a bicycle kick to land in the hand of the keeper.
Miguel Ibbara had another chance late in the second half as he received the ball and broke away with just him and the keeper, but the Keeper came off his line quickly and was able to corral the ball extinguishing the threat.
The Chivas and the Storm will be working on establishing a relationship that will include another game but in Santa Clarita and perhaps a third game  later on in the year.
