Board has agreed to another year with the Storm as the Storm's official Athletic Trainer, being responsible for both the Storm and the visiting teams while the Storm host it’s home games. Before each game Board treats whichever players need specific accommodations before suiting up, & also remains on the sideline throughout the game in case of any injuries that may take place during the match. Darren graduated from Masters College in 1999, moving on to obtain his Master’s degree in Sport Sciences at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA. “We are very happy and relived that Darren will be returning to the Storm next year”. Said Gerald Brunner; C.E.O of the Storm. The position of Athletic Trainer has become a very important part of our day to day operations as a team." Brunner went on to say.
The National Premier Soccer League has made the Athletic Trainer a high priority of the minim standards for each team. So much so that the game can not go on without a Certified Athletic Trainer on site. With that in mind Darren gives a real piece of mind to the organization knowing that is not an area of concern for the Storm staff. Darren has an extensive back ground and experience.
Hired in 2011; Darren Board enters his third season as the Storm’s Head Athletic Trainer. In this role he evaluates and treats in-game injuries sustained by players, assists in their pre-game preparation through applying taping and stretching protocols and provides appropriate referral to medical providers when the need arises.
A native of Visalia, CA, Darren graduated from Master’s College in 1999 and went on to obtain his Master’s degree in Sport Sciences at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA. While pursuing his graduate studies, he was the Athletic Trainer responsible for the mens water polo, volleyball and baseball teams. After finishing at Pacific in 2005, Darren moved to Jacksonville, FL to work at the Jacksonville Orthopedic Institute, where he provided rehabilitative services to professional, college and high school athletes as well as general population patients.  In 2006, Darren returned to  Master’ s College to serve as the Athletic Trainer and Strength & Conditioning coach for the men’s soccer, baseball & golf programs, as well as to teach in the Kinesiology department. Darren is dual credentialed as a Certified Athletic Trainer (A.T.C) and a Certified Strength & Conditioning
Specialist (C.S.C.S). He is also certified as a Performance Enhancement Specialist (P.E.S) through the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
