Storm Signs Three Local's to the 2013 Roster

  Santa Clarita,California The Santa Clarita Storm announced today they have signed three local players for the 2013 season; Joel Gunterman, Nick Rowin &  Andres Bueno. Reported by the Storm on Saturday March 2nd was as follows;  “We have added one local returning player - Andres Bueno & two others; Joel Guterman and Nick Rowin to one year contracts”; said Storm CEO Gerald Brunner. "We were looking to add to our roster's already solid strength, ability & experience" Brunner continued, "We were looking to strengthen our backline as well as our midfield. We feel we have helped solidify the backline with adding Joel & Nick, and Joel can also play in the midfield helping Andres - who can also play up top.

Joel played with the Lancaster Rattlers of the Antelope Valley in 2008 & works at College of the Canyons in Valencia as a Strength and Conditioning coach for the Men's soccer team. Gunterman comes to the Storm with a great deal of the
experience, strength, and ability. "We were looking for a defender that not only has accomplished his defending position but he is a player that can play any position on the field if asked, that alone makes Joel very valuable"; Said Brunner. Joel attended College of the Canyons from 2003-2005 and further went on to Kansas Wesleyan University where he lead the team to a  KCAC conference title his very first year. Joel also managed to make the First Team All Conference award as well as First Team All Region.

The Storm also has sign Nick Rowin - another player born and raised in Santa Clarita and a teammate of Gunterman's at College of the Canyons and
Kansas Wesleyan. Nick, like Joel, is a universal player but mainly in a defensive midfield position. Rowin with Gunterman helped lead Kansas Wesleyan to championships in 2005, '06, '07 & '08.

  I'm excited about the opportunity with the Storm and looking forward to grow with the team and helping in its success.” said Rowin about his signing with the Storm. The Storm looks to Rowin as a future leader on the team and to help guide it to the National Championship.

Andres Bueno
Andres Bueno returns again to the Storm for his third year, Bueno is an outside Midfielder /forward Bueno like Gunterman and Rowin he attend College of the Canyons and grew up in Santa Clarita now living in Canyon Country Bueno is going to bring more added talent to our offensive attack. Bueno played in Santa Clarita while growing up,in 2006 won the second team all league, 2007 received the Scholar Athlete Award and in 2008 received First team award by the Los Angeles county board of Supervisors. And 2009 while at College of the Canyons Bueno picked up a few accomplishments such as Scoring leader with 24 goals 10 assists for 58 points second in all of California and was awarded the MVP award, 2009 was selected as a member of the NSCAA All American Team from College of the Canyons. 2010 Bueno was signed to the Lancaster Rattlers of the USL PDL team .

“These three signings will do what we had set out to do add strength, ability and experience”.

The Storm will began preparing for the up coming Lamar Hunt US Open Cup Qualifier that will be held at Canyon High School at 5pm on Saturday March 23rd. Tickets will be available on line or at the gate.
